Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. Psalm 119:7-13 (NIV)
Some people may read these verses and despair that they cannot run from God. No matter where they go, He is already there. They cannot hide from Him. They cannot escape Him.
I read these verses and find such comfort in them. No matter where I go, He is already there. He is there waiting for me, ready to lend a hand, hold me, shine His light on me. Even the darkest night is not dark to God.
There are times in everyone’s life when circumstances seem hopeless. We are lost and scared and confused. These times come often to those of us battling addiction, mental illness, loss, grief, brokenness.
When these dark moments come, know that God is already there. He is in the heavens, the sea, the dawn, the depths of everything. He is there. Right beside you, holding your hand. He is there.
Quiet your mind and your heart and let Him in. Feel his warm presence envelop you. Be still and let Him love you.
