This is a great story, filled with wonderful lessons for kids. Well-told and beautifully illustrated too. And as a bonus, it can help your child learn some new spelling words too.

Such a lovely little book with a few good lessons sprinkled in. Feels timeless, and classic, and the drawings are delicate and detailed and fun to investigate. Piper is a great little series.

This is 5 stars. I loved the story and the very important message of how to deal with disappointment. The illustrations are darling and the story is well written. I don't think my opinion matters as much as my daughters who gives it a huge thumbs up. I can't wait for the next one!

This was the perfect find! We love this series and appreciate the fun commentary and uplifting message (telling the truth). Love it too that Piper spends a week with her grandma! You won't regret reading this story with your (grand)kids!

What an adorable story with a great lesson on honesty! Piper is so loveable and fun, even though she doesn't always have the best ideas. 🙂 This is a wonderful story! Great touch with the amusing ending, with Poppy helping Piper "weed" the garden, another of her "great" ideas! This cute story coupled with the great illustrations is a definite win! As a retired school teacher and preschool director, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book!

My little niece was excited when I read this book to her and right now she wants to read it to her before bed time. She got so much inspired from Piper that she's waiting for a day that it will rain so we can make an indoor picnic. I found the book very touching, sweet and all over hopeful. I really liked the fact that despise the problem, there is always a solution.

What a beautiful story with wonderful lessons for kids. Piper is determined to out-do her competition in the spelling bee, but the morals she learns could be more valuable than any trophy. The story is one that any parent would be pleased to read to their child, and the illustrations are just gorgeous. Piper is very real and open-hearted. I'm looking forward to Piper's next little adventure.

A very enjoyable book with a couple of great lessons. The language was lively and age appropriate. The illustrations were just lovely and will delight. Overall, I found this book to be one that children will love.

We love these Piper books! My daughter is 4 and she's received them for her birthday each year. Just ordered book 3 for her upcoming birthday! We love the fun alliteration and the underlying character messages! As a mom of 3 girls - this book fits us perfectly!

This is a great book, very well suited for the children (especially the girls) in the special education class I teach. The story line fits like a glove with some lesson materials I have been using with farm animals, my kids can identify very easily with the story and get a lot of practice sounding out and spelling the words. As always, there is an invaluable lesson embedded in the story, one that every kid can easily grasp.

This book is an awesome attempt to encourage children to learn for the Spelling Bee. Susanne has put together a hilarious book with charming drawings, illustrating the challenges on a third grader level. I was simply charmed.
