What inspires me? The people I come into contact with every day totally inspire me.
I’m inspired by the embattled Grace Seekers that share their hearts and needs on Grace Rising. These sweet souls face fractured families, broken bodies, never-ending financial and spiritual struggles. Yet they love their Lord, believe in Him and desperately cling to Him for healing. I’m inspired by their courage and trust. I pray for them. I hope I can make my little ministry worth of them.
I’m inspired by my Lightbearers. These men and women spend countless hours trying to help others through addictions, mental health issues and more. With each story, I’m reminded that there really are good people in this world. People who want nothing more than to lend a helping hand to someone who needs one. They inspire me to try harder, work smarter, and look for dark places to shine God’s light.
I’m inspired by the women I met at She Speaks. Each had a story to tell, a word of wisdom to share, a love for the Lord that enveloped me in grace and goodness. They inspire me to be a better writer, a better sister in Christ, a better friend, a better example of the love of Jesus.
I’m inspired by all the people battling the demon of addiction I come in contact with every day. The ones on Day 1 for the 100th time. The ones with five years of sobriety behind them. The ones who think it can’t be done and the ones who know it can. They inspire me to stay strong with my own battle, to keep cheering each and every one on, to continue to recover out loud and share my story. When I’m tired of the light of public awareness shining on me, I remember these recovery warriors and I continue on. I’m determined to do my part to break the stigma of addiction and mental health issues.
I’m inspired by my teenage son who faces Tourette Syndrome with such grace. He doesn’t complain. He doesn’t hide. He simply lives his life the best he can despite that diagnosis.
I’m inspired by the intricacies of God’s world I see every day on the farm. How a chick knows it’s time to hatch on Day 21. How a newborn lamb knows which sheep is its mama and how to nurse as soon as it stands up. How bees make honey. How the trees know when it’s time to sleep and time to bloom and time to grow.
I’m inspired by my husband who stuck by me through the dark days of my addiction, always encourages me (even when my ideas are totally crazy), and gives back in so many ways to so many people. He loved me when I was unlovable. Over and over again.
I’m inspired by God, His Word, His music, His love for each and every one of us.
I’m inspired by so much more – great books, beautiful sunsets, majestic mountains, babies – but we only have five minutes. 🙂
Mostly I’m inspired by the fact that my Heavenly Father can love a sinner like me and love me completely and for always. That is the most inspiring thing of all.
